Treatment For Ingrown Toenail Care and Surgery
An ingrown toenail occurs when the nail grows into the skin surrounding the nail and pierces it. This can be exquisitely painful, and ignoring it will not help; it will not improve on its own. The piercing piece of nail needs to be removed, which if done carefully and with the correct instruments can be achieved with minimal pain.
At Quest Podiatry, we believe prevention is always the best medicine and thorough steps will be taken to provide conservative treatment of an ingrown nail. Most of these cases are able to be treated and controlled with proper cutting technique and care to remove the nail spike with our specialised instruments.
If this is not successful another option in more serious cases can be removal of part of the nail under local anaesthetic. This can be performed in our chair with minimal discomfort both during and after the procedure, and have you back on your feet within 2 hours.
