Ingrown Toenail Care and Surgery

Ingrowing NailAn Ingrown toenail occurs when the nail grows into the skin surrounding the skin and pierces it. This can be exquisitely painful, however ignoring it will not help, and it will not improve on its own. The piercing piece of nail should be removed, which if done carefully and with the correct instruments can be achieved with minimal pain.

At Quest Podiatry, we believe prevention is always the best medicine and thorough steps will be taken to attempt conservative treatment of an ingrown nail.  Most of these cases are able to be treated and controlled with proper cutting technique and care to remove the nail spike with our specialised instruments.

If this is not successful another option in more serious cases can be removal of part of the nail under local anaesthetic.  This can be performed in our chair with minimal discomfort both during and after the procedure, and have you back on your feet within 2 hours.
